I <3 Asian Cinema 2: Infernal Affairs

bet u cant guezz whoz behindz u!
iz tony?
darnz.

Ha! bet you thought I'd forgotten about my Asian Cinema series! What with all the traveling and getting engaged and losing surge protectors I've been getting up to. I'm happy to confirm that you were wrong as today, we will be talking about one of my solid gold best films ever, Infernal Affairs otherwise known as Mou gaan dou.

Like Hard Boiled, this is also a HK police drama but more in the way of a psychological thriller.

Summary (Courtesy imdb):

"The setting is the never-ending war between the police and the Triads of Hong Kong. Chan is a cop who's been assigned to undercover work inside the Triads for so long that he's been able to rise through the ranks to a position of some authority. Lau, meanwhile, is a secret member of the Triads who has infiltrated the police force with an equal level of success. As they feed their bosses information on the plans and counter-plans of the organizations they pretend to serve, they both begin to feel the stresses of their double lives as they become torn between the oppressive obligations they owe to their superiors and the growing camaraderie they share with the foot soldiers around them. As the two organizations become increasingly aware of the moles in their midsts, the race is on for Chan and Lau to try and get out of the game alive."

I'm really not that into this genre usually but at the end of this film, i rewound it and watched it again from top to bottom. That is how much I loved it! Its got Tony Leung Chiu Wai (almost anything with this guy in it is a sure bet) and Andy Lau (no one wears a suit like Andy), what more could a girl want? Still one of my ALL time best movies and i try not to think of the hollywood remake (Marty, how could you?)
